And out of the blue ... our windows are finally fixed!
I can't believe it. After several years, three landlords, and numerous run-arounds ... the windows are fixed. The frames weren't bent. They just needed new latches!

Here they are ... the defective latches ... probably cost them 5 bucks to replace.

It amazes me that what cost them so little cost you so much more and on more than just a financial level at that.

Bastids should have been about sooner to take care of it if that's all it cost. Isn't there a tenants' committee of some sort? I mean knowing what you know now...

Then again, it just may well be worth it to say nothing and just be grateful it's complete.

Finally!

So basically you're saying that if you'd have spent $5 a few months ago and fixed them yourself, the cat would have been saved all this pain and suffering?

Thank god it was the cat, not the kid, who went out the window.

Anonymous - you don't know what you're talking about. Try reading the posts before you post such accusatory comments.

It is the landlord's responsibility to fix these things...I'm not a window repair person. I don't know how to do it. I couldn't even get the windows closed.

And multiple people came to assess the windows and I think they were just being lazy. They kept pointing the finger to someone else saying it was worse than it was and someone ELSE should do it. Finally, this new landlord said something to MAKE them do their job.

Why don't you think before you comment?
